MEMORANDUM FOR DEPUTY COMMANDING GENERAL, USFOR-A
FROM: 440th Air Expeditionary Advisory Squadron Commander (440 AEAS)
SUBJECT: Letter of Justification for Therapod High Back chair and Kensington Modular Keyboard Platform
- The 440 AEAS requests 1ea Therapod High-Back chair and 1ea Kensington Modular Keyboard Platform for the 440 AEAS Commander. The 440 AEAS Commander suffers from chronic severe migraines resulting from a previous neck injury. The injury requires her to have ample lower back and shoulder support whenever she is in a sitting position. Without this support, her lower back and shoulder begins to constrict causing severe pain which, in turn, triggers migraine headaches. A doctor’s evaluation is attached, stating that an ergonomic chair and keyboard platform is required to alleviate the pain.
- As the 440 AEAS Commander, she is directly responsible for advising the Kabul Afghan Air Force Maintenance Group Commander on all matters regarding Mi-17/35, AN-26/32, and C-27 fleet maintenance. Her typical work hours range from 12 to 14 hours a day, of which she spends an average of 8 to 10 hours working in front of a computer. The ergonomic Therapod High-Back Chair is specifically designed to provide lower lumbar support while the Kensington Modular Keyboard Platform ensures proper working posture which will reduce the frequency and intensity of the lower back and shoulder pain.
- If this request is not supported, the Commander will continue to suffer from severe migraine headaches. Each migraine episode results in lost productivity. The effect of this lost time on the Squadron and the overall Combined Air Power Transition Force Afghanistan mission is significant. Approving this request is necessary to keep the 440 AEAS Commander healthy and able to perform her duties to the benefit of the mission.
